Koorie Art Show Awards: Celebrating Indigenous Creativity
The Koorie Art Show Awards are a testament to the rich creativity of over 130 First Peoples artists from various regions in Victoria. This annual exhibition, born out of a statewide call for entries, highlights the artistic accomplishments of Koorie and Victorian-based Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.
Visitors to the Koorie Art Show will be treated to diverse artistic expressions, including painting, works on paper, photography, sculpture, multi-media, and fibre art. The exhibition allows artists to generously share narratives of their stories, culture, Country, and connections. All submitted works are displayed in a salon hang, providing a significant avenue for community members to showcase their talents, with each piece available for purchase.
The launch of the Koorie Art Show perfectly coincides with the reopening of the Koorie Heritage Trust, now housed across all three floors of the newly renovated Birrarung Building at Fed Square.
