What’s on in Melbourne August 2024

August is here, Melbournians, and there is plenty for you to do! There are some amazing events and performances happening all around Melbourne this month, but we thought we would make it easy for you by highlighting some of them. We encourage you to try attending something new this August and explore what our beautiful city has to offer!

Now or Never 22 - 31 August Free - $150

Now or Never is a major festival exploring where art, ideas, technology, and sound intersect. The festival sprawls over the whole city, and this year, the organisers are prompting attendees to 'Look Through the Image,' suggesting they use more than their eyes to see the works before them.

Australian creatives and musicians have partnered with internationals to pioneer an artistic experience. The festival will feature digital art experiences, music and audiovisual performances, and expressive talks—all of which invite you to shift your perspective and ask yourself questions.

A variety of free and ticketed events are bound to sell out.

Winter Night Market Until August 28th Free Event

Each Wednesday until August 28th, you can visit the Queen Victoria Market and indulge in some of the most delicious street food Melbourne offers. These night markets have more to offer than just food; you can also treat yourself to excellent warm beverages or keep yourself busy shopping at the stalls. Warm yourself by the fire while you enjoy the entertainment of the week, or even get up and dance the night away at the infamous Guru Dudu Silent Disco.

You can look forward to drinks like mulled wine, butterbeer, spiced Milo, and a hot gin toddy. The market stalls are all unique, allowing vinyl records, upcycled furniture, vintage fashion, and handmade jewellery to catch your eye. Capture the moment in one of the Korean-style photo booths and take home your memories.

The night markets have been super popular, so don't wait until it's too late to check them out!
